David Mathews, Circuit City's new operational point person, has been given the title of merchandising, services and marketing executive VP. Mathews, previously president of the chain's multichannel direct-sales operations, was tapped for a central role in the company's newly streamlined reporting structure. (See TWICE, Feb. 12, p. 1.) ... Chris Matthews, anchor of MSNBC's Hardball, will be the featured keynoted on Tuesday, March 27, during the CEA Washington Forum ... Stan Freimuth, Fujifilm senior VP and chief administrator officer, has left the company to pursue other opportunities. A replacement has not been named ... Jim O'Neil is returning to Electronics Expo after a two-year stint at Sears. He will serve as divisional merchandise manager of the six-store A/V chain, based here, and will also be the buyer for cameras and camcorders. With the exception of video, O'Neil will oversee all merchandise groups including wireless, audio, furniture and accessories ... Lyle Smith, former Ultimate Electronics and Best Buy executive, joins Klipsch Group Americas as sales VP for its Jamo brand in the United States ... Thomas Gallagher, BJ Wholesale Club's operations senior VP, has been promoted to store operations executive VP, responsible for all BJ's operations succeeding Ed Giles, who has left the company ... Robert Shortt joins Targus as sales and marketing senior VP, overseeing all sales and marketing efforts including product development and industrial design … Scott Newman, former CEO of GoldPocket Interactive and chairman of Mixed Signals, has joined Audio Advice, a Home Theater Specialists of America group member, based in Raleigh, N.C.
