Ingram Micro Bows Product Protection Plan

By Doug Olenick -- TWICE, 8/20/2007

Ingram Micro's services division has unveiled the Ingram Micro Product Protection plan, which it is offering in conjunction with Warranty Corporation of America (WaCA).

The hardware service plans are expected to enable solution providers to offer multi-vendor, on-site customer care and professional repair services for computers, servers and peripherals, without manufacturer restrictions.

"Solution provider partners are constantly looking for ways to drive incremental service revenue streams while strengthening the value and services they provide to their clients," said Jason Beal, sales director, Ingram Micro Services. "With the new Ingram Micro Product Protection plan, we're giving partners exactly what they've been asking for — an all-inclusive, flexible multi-vendor product services plan that provides optimal customer service at an affordable yet profitable price tag."

The plans are currently available to Ingram Micro solution providers in the United States, but the company says it has plans to make it available to Canadian partners later this year.

According to a release, the plans include "three-year, next-business-day service options and on-site customer care, as well as exclusive offerings for white-box and college campus resellers."

As part of the plan, Ingram Micro solution providers have the option of either directly becoming WaCA-authorized service providers and service customers, or they can choose to use WaCA's nationwide network of authorized service providers.

Ingram Micro said it plans to tap into the Ingram Micro Services Network to further equip its existing service providers with the necessary technology expertise and on-site assistance they'll need to carry out the new plans.

Its exclusive offerings include three different on-site service plans for system builders and integrators for white-box desktop and server solutions. It will also offer a specific services contract for college campus resellers for laptops sold in university bookstores.
