DP Expanding Projector Line At CEDIA Expo

By Greg Tarr -- TWICE, 9/3/2007

Digital Projection (booth 240) is using CEDIA Expo to introduce an expanded Reference Series of 1080p home cinema projectors.

New Reference Series models are comprised of units from the Titan, HIGHlite and Lightning 1080p classes.

The company will also show at CEDIA its smallest 1080p model — the iVision 30-1080p. The compact unit is said to offer a high-resolution picture, a small footprint and ease of integration.

Meanwhile, the smallest of the new Reference Series models is the 68-pound Titan Reference 1080p, which delivers up to 6,000 ANSI lumens and 5,000:1 contrast ratio through a dual 300-watt lamp system. The projector offers seven lens options, including short-throw solutions.

At the top of the Reference line are the Lightning Reference 30 1080p and Reference 40 1080p projectors, offering custom light output from 6,000 to 14,000 ANSI lumens, while maintaining a 5,000:1 contrast ratio.

The models incorporate two examples of Digital Projection's CoolTek engineering — a long-life Hyper-Cooled xenon lamphouse and an efficient DirectFlow cooling system for the DMD's and prism optics.

The company will also give dealers an opportunity to view its previously announced ColorMax technology, which is now integrated into all DP displays.

They system uses a combination of Brilliant Color technology, electronics processing, 7-point colorimetry and advanced calibration techniques to render new levels of image fidelity and color accuracy, DP said.

Also slated for review are three home cinema projectors equipped with DP's TheaterScope Premier system offering 1080p with anamorphic 2.35:1 aspect ratios.
