LG Adds Movie, E-mail Phones

San Diego — Music and e-mail were on LG's mind with the introduction of the VX8600 music phone and the keyboard-equipped enV, both CDMA 1x EV-DO phones for Verizon's network.
They're available.
Like Verizon's LG-made Chocolate music phone, the VX8600 is a clamshell model with glossy piano-black finish, touch-sensitive front-panel music keys that glow red, Bluetooth stereo and microSD card slot. It's LG's slimmest and lightest handset, weighing 3.26 ounces and measuring 0.58 inches thick. Its battery delivers up to 10 hours of music playing or up to about 3.75 hours of talk time.
Other features include Bluetooth stereo, playback of MP3 and protected-WMA music files, 1.3-megapixel camera, video player and Web-based e-mail and instant messaging. Pricing was unavailable.
The enV bar phone with slide-out QWERTY keypad is a thinner replacement for LG's keyboard-equipped VX9800, which Verizon began offering in September 2005. Both phones are designed to be used in landscape mode when the keyboards slide out.
The 9900 weighs 4.6 ounces and measures 2.08 inches thick compared to its predecessor, which weighs 5.19 ounces and is an inch thick. LG attributed the lighter, trimmer design to a more efficient lithium polymer batter, which delivers 4.5 hours of talk time.
The 9900 is LG's first phone available through a U.S. carrier with 2-megapixel camera. Other features include dedicated email button, dual speakers, and microSD slot.
