End-Table/Sub Launched

Brisbane, Calif. — Monster Cable's M Design division unveiled the MBass 1000 powered subwoofer, crafted to look like a high-end end table and to complement other products in its Centra home theater line.

The curvaceous 1000 retails for a suggested $2,995 and comes in high-gloss hand-rubbed veneer in piano-black or light-cherry finishes. It features a 10-inch aluminum cone driver and 500-watt internal amplifier. It will complement the soon-to-be-released Centra Streamline tower speakers.

Onkyo, iPod Link Forged

UPPER SADDLE RIVER, N.J. — Onkyo plans midyear availability of an iPod docking station that connects with most Onkyo receivers and home theater systems produced in the past 10 years.

The recharging/docking station connects to the products' remote interactive (RI) port, which connects to other manufacturers' A/V products to allow for automatic start-up and the integrated operation of separate components.

The company couldn't say whether the iPod's user interface would appear on a connected TV screen.
