Richard Gray Bows Pole Pig

By Staff -- TWICE, 12/8/2003

Richard Gray's Power Co. is introducing what it calls the first 700va, audiophile-build quality isolation transformer for the home theater and custom installation markets. It provides protection from the indiscernible noise, power surges and dips running through a home on a daily basis.

Called the Pole Pig, because it takes its name from the utility company transformer mounted high on poles in so many suburbs across the United States, the unit helps eliminate ground loops, or incompatibilities between components' ground voltages, that plague home theater systems. It essentially ensures against damage of expensive home theater equipment.

The Pole Pig provides total isolation from the neutral and hot legs of the AC line and aids in RF-brand noise removal as well. Featuring six Hubbell outlets, it isolates the front-end components such as preamp, DVD player and music server.

It also offers surge suppression and can be mounted in a custom A/V rack, or placed on a shelf of an equipment rack.

The unit rejects the power spikes and smaller surges that lead to premature failure of sensitive electronics, while it captures and restores high current on demand to satisfy power hungry equipment.

It is available with a black or silver faceplate at a suggested $1,495 retail.
