Delphi Readies Aftermarket Speakers, Amps

Delphi Automotive Systems announced it will begin offering car stereo upgrade speakers and amplifiers through aftermarket retail outlets and car dealerships within the next six months. In addition, Delphi showed an upgrade to its Communiport system and showed several "concept" applications of technologies including an 802.11 networked A/V systems for the car.

Delphi said it will offer car amplifiers and speakers for the first time to 100 aftermarket retailers (not storefronts), said David Marinelle, global director for consumer electronics aftermarket operations. The line will include three amplifiers (two 2 channel and one 5 channel) and eight speakers. The amplifiers range in price from $179 to $349 and speakers range from $59 to $180 per pair.
