Naokazu (Neil) Kurihara, ex-marketing VP of JVC Company of America, named president replacing Katsuhiko Hattori, who spent seven years in the U.S. as president of JVC. Hattori will return to the parent company as associate director in charge of strategic marketing for Americas Company of Victor Company of Japan. Replacing Kurihara as marketing VP is Hiro Ishizuka, who most recently worked in the AV and Multimedia Division of the parent company… SONICblue removed the word 'interim' from the titles of CEO L. Gregory Ballard and chief financial officer Marcus Smith, who were originally hired to fill those roles on a short term basis in August when Ballard replaced Ken Potashner as CEO... Gemstar -TV Guide reports that founder Dr. Henry Yuen has been replaced as CEO by Jeff Shell. Yuen continues as chairman. Paul Haggerty, executive VP of finance for major Gemstar stockholder News Corp., named acting chief financial officer. He replaces Elsie Leung, who will continue on Gemstar's board… Craig Eggers, formerly Toshiba DVD product management director, was named Dolby Labs consumer channel marketing director. Toshiba also made three appointments: Bruce Fairchild, formerly with American Power Conversion, becomes digital displays product marketing director, Greg DeSmith, formerly with Sony, becomes TV product marketing manager, and Scott Oswald, Toshiba national trainer, promoted to assistant TV product marketing manager...

Bill Trawick, executive director of the NATM Buying Corp., elected president of the buying group, the first NATM executive director to hold both posts. He replaces Jerry Throgmartin, CEO of H.H. Gregg, whose company left NATM last month in anticipation of territorial conflicts with other NATM dealers…Rick Powers, Zenith sales VP, has resigned. His plans were not announced... Patrick M. Walsh, VP responsible for business and financial planning and business development with iBiquity Digital, has been named chief financial officer. Joe D'Angelo, iBiquity's wireless data business development director, will assume the responsibilities vacated by Walsh for developing iBiquity's data services operations…Emiel Petrone resigns as Philips Entertainment Group executive VP, but will continue as chairman emeritus of the DVD Entertainment Group…. Thomas Linden, Command Audio's former chief technology officer and engineering VP, which is a recent iBiquity acquisition, has been named data development and architecture VP…Cyndie Gardner, merchandising director for Discovery.com, joins The Laserline Company as marketing director while Steve Mooar, ex-Harvard Commuting Group, named Laserline's operations director… Phoenix Gold promotes Timothy Johnson to president/COO from executive VP/COO and Dan Petersen to sales and marketing VP for Phoenix Gold America from sales operations VP. Keith Lehmann, PG America's senior VP, will leave the company.
