Coleman Leaves Gateway

By Doug Olenick -- TWICE, 12/14/2007

Irvine, Calif. — Gateway CEO Ed Coleman announced today that he would step down from his position, effective Jan. 31.

ed colemanRudi Schmidleithner, who heads Acer’s Pan America Organization, will also assume responsibility for Gateway. He will lead both organizations and handle Gateway’s integration into the Acer group, the company said.

Coleman took over as Gateway’s CEO in September 2006 and has led the company through its most tumultuous period, which saw the company avert a hostile takeover attempt, another uprising led by a shareholder and a continuous string of layoffs culminating in the sale of the company to Acer last October.
