Kanex Debuts DisplayPort HDMI Adapter

Kanex, a brand of Apogee, recently debuted a line of DisplayPort adapters meant for use with MacBooks.

The Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter (model MDPORTHDMI) retails for a suggested $19.99 and enables users to connect a MacBook, MacBook Pro or MacBook Air to a high-definition TV or LCD with an HDMI connector or cable.

“Connect to any external display or projector to use as your main workspace or to extend your desktop,” said the company. “The Mini DisplayPort Adapters will also allow you to work in mirrored mode with a projector so you can view what your audience sees.”

It reportedly supports Mini DisplayPort 1.1a input to HDMI 1.3b output, 1080p HDMI resolution, HDMI 225MHz/2.25Gbps per channel (6.75Gbps all channel) bandwidth, HDMI 12-bit per channel (36-bit all channel) deep color, and uncompressed audio such as LPCM.

The company also introduced a Mini Display Port to VGA adapter (model MDPORTVGA, $24.99) and Mini DisplayPort to DVI-D single-link adapter (MDPORTDVI, $19.99).

The MDPORTVGA supports a Mini DisplayPort 1.1a-compliant receiver offering 5.4 Gbps bandwidth over two lanes and features integrated triple 10-bit, 162 MHz video DAC fo analog VGA signal output.

All are scheduled for April availability.
