Round Rock, Texas — Dell has expanded its Mini line with the introduction of the Mini 12, which is similar to the Mini 9 but features a 12.1-inch WXGA display.
The Mini 12 has a starting weight of 2.72 pounds and measures less than 1 inch thick. It will initially be offered with a Windows Vista Home Basic operating system and will feature a built-in Web cam, 1GB of RAM and either a 60GB or 80GB hard drive.
Other features will include built-in Bluetooth and 802.11b/g wireless functionality.
The device is initially available only in Japan, but will launch online globally late next month with configurations starting at less than $600. Dell said Ubuntu and Windows XP operating systems will also be available before the end of the year.
