Hitachi Unveils Network 3LCD Projector

Chula Vista, Calif. — Hitachi’s home electronics business group introduced Monday a compact 4.1-pound 3LCD video projector with 2,000 ANSI lumens of brightness, designed for remote maintenance over a network.
The CPX4, which will ship in December at a $1,995 suggested retail, offers wired or wireless LAN connectivity that an A/V or IT administrator can use to monitor the its operational condition and diagnose problems. In addition, timing for the projectors power on and off can be automatically set from a computer.
When the CPX4 is connected to the network, it accesses the server and automatically matches its clock to the server time. Users can also control and monitor the projector from a Web browser without having to download and install application software, Hitachi said.
Connecting an external hard disk to the projector lets image data can be transmitted and deleted via the network, Hitachi said.

alerts, from a PC to each projector on the network. Images are automatically displayed on all the projectors on a network, including ones that are not in use at the time.
Hitachi said the function is “ideal for applications in which multiple projectors are networked across a large space, such as a school, campus or large corporate environment.”
A multi-screen function allows four computer screens to be displayed simultaneously. The CPX4 is also enabled to display content via USB storage devices, SD cards or HDD media players, allowing for PC-less presentation.
Projector setup and operation have been simplified with a quick start function, including automatic vertical keystone correction, and resolution setting.
When using a short-throw lens, the CPX4 displays 60-inch images at a distance of 4.9 feet.
Additional convenience features include: My Screen, My Memory and My B\Button, a built-in 1 watt speaker, and a low noise (29dB) fan level in whisper mode.
