CES Works With Red Cross On Tsunami Relief Efforts

Las Vegas - In response to the huge humanitarian demands created by the recent tsunami in Southeast Asia, the 2005 International CES announced that it is collaborating with the fundraising efforts of the American Red Cross International Response Fund.

2005 International CES attendees will be able to make onsite contributions to the Red Cross tsunami relief effort. The show runs through Jan. 6 to 9, ,here.

“This natural disaster has shaken the global community to its core,” said Gary Shapiro, president/CEO of the Consumer Electronics Association, the sponsor and producer of the International CES. “Our industry and our attendees span the globe – we represent the global community. So even as we gather here this week to celebrate the success and innovations of the consumer electronics industry, we have a moral responsibility to do our part to lend a helping hand.To that end, we are proud to partner with the Red Cross and provide our attendees with an opportunity to respond to this devastating crisis.”

From Jan. 6 through Jan. 9 the International CES will designate cash registers in the registration areas that allow attendees to contribute to the Red Cross in their disaster relief efforts. Voluntary donations can be made in the registration areas located in the South Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center and the exhibitor registration area in the Central Plaza.Registration areas will be accepting donations in the form of cash, credit cards or checks made payable to the American Red Cross.In addition to the contributions pledged during the International CES, CEA will donate $5,000 to the American Red Cross.
