iStik, Noggin-Net Debut This Week

By Lisa Johnston -- TWICE, 12/3/2008

New York — Two iPod and MP3 player accessories were introduced this week, including a case from iStik and an MP3-player-enabled skullcap from a new company called LimbGear.

The iStik, from the company of the same name, is engineered with

polycarbonate plastic and is designed to encase the fourth-generation iPod Nano so users attach the device to any part of their outfit. The three-piece case uses “intense magnetic fastening” with eight neodymium magnets. The magnets are encased in thick plastic and will not erase media on your iPod or surrounding electronics, the company said.

The water- and sweat-resistant iStik can reportedly rotate for use vertically or horizontally, and it props up on its side for movie viewing. Suggested retail is $24.95.

LimbGear, which went live this week, has introduced the Noggin-Net, a skullcap that houses an MP3 player and its ear buds. The fleece hat is designed to safely house the device and the ear buds, acting as a “wireless music system,” the company said.

The caps are offered in two sizes: Melon Head and Pea Head, both for $21.99. Consumers can purchase a Noggin-Net with the company’s set of ear buds for $29.50.

Although the Noggin-Nets are currently only offered on LimbGear’s Web site, a spokesman said the company was in talks with retailers and would be using International CES in January as its “coming-out party.”
