MERA Pushes Your Ride Your Way

By Amy Gilroy -- TWICE, 6/20/2005

CEA and the Mobile Enhancement Retailers Association (MERA) launched a new Web site to support MERA's “Your Ride Your Way” campaign, designed to educate consumers about their options to upgrade to an after-market sound system.

The site, www.YourRideYourWay.com, also provides a link to a survey for mobile electronics retailers and installers to rank the ability to upgrade the OEM sound systems found in various vehicles. When the survey is completed, CEA and MERA will post a list of the “Top 10 Most Upgrade-Friendly Vehicles” on the site.

While this survey focuses on retailer and installer input, CEA is also working with CNET to create a consumer input Web site where consumers can rank their car's stereo system for its “after-market friendliness.” (See TWICE, April 18, p. 36)

MERA recently launched “Your Ride Your Way” as an awareness campaign to shed light on the obstacles faced by mobile enhancement retailers and others in the industry.

“Mobile electronics end-users are forced to pay more for upgrades and repairs if their vehicles aren't aftermarket-friendly,” explained Jim Braun president of Dual Electronics and CEA mobile electronics board member.
