GE Looks To Unload Majap Unit: WSJ

By TWICE Staff -- TWICE, 5/15/2008

New York — General Electric is putting its major appliance business on the block, according to a published report.

The Wall Street Journal said Goldman Sachs has been hired to advise on the deal, which could bring in between $5 billion and $8 billion.

The story reported that Haier and BSH Bosch are among the firms reportedly interested in the deal. Haier had expressed interest in picking up a major appliance maker in the past, having bid on Maytag when that company was up for bid three years ago.
