Logitech To Add Bluetooth Model

By Joseph Palenchar -- TWICE, 8/18/2003

Logitech's first wireless headset for cell phones, which was scheduled for July availability, incorporates a proprietary wireless technology. But, in the fall, the company plans a Bluetooth model.

The model using proprietary wireless technology is packaged with separate dongles for use with Nokia phones or Sony Ericsson phones. A dongle with 2.5mm jack can be used with most other phones. The headset-dongle duo delivers seven to eight hours of talk time and will retail for less than $100. Range is about 15 feet, compared with Bluetooth's maximum 30 feet.

The planned Bluetooth headset will be shipped without a dongle for use with phones incorporating built-in Bluetooth.
