ThinkPad Returns To Retail

By Doug Olenick -- TWICE, 11/21/2005

Office Depot hosted the return to retail for the once-mighty ThinkPad notebook brand when it began carrying two ThinkPads, now made by Chinese computer manufacturer Lenovo, this weekend.

On Nov. 6, the ThinkPad T43 and ThinkPad Z60t rolled out into 1,000 Office Depot locations. Lenovo bought IBM's personal computer division earlier this year and until now had maintained its distribution into the corporate markets. To a large extent, Lenovo is maintaining its interest in business customers with the move into Office Depot.

“Lenovo shares Office Depot's philosophy of bringing our business customers the most innovative products to help them succeed, and the new series of ThinkPad notebooks is no exception,” said John Lostroscio, merchandising VP, Office Depot.

Lenovo will make several additional product lines available through OfficeDepot.com.
