Jasco Device Terminates Calls, Minds Its Manners

By Greg Scoblete -- TWICE, 4/30/2001

OKLAHOMA CITY, OKLA. — Jasco has introduced the GE-brand Telemarketing Terminator, which politely terminates unwanted phone calls from telemarketers.

Consumers need buy only one $24.99-suggested-retail Telemarketing Terminator to terminate a call from any phone in the house. The device connects between a phone and the wall jack.

When any phone using that line rings, the user need only press the phone's star button to activate the Terminator's recorded voice, which says, "I have been directed to inform you that this household must respectfully decline your inquiry. Kindly place this number on your do-not-call list. Good day."

The product, expected to ship in mid-June, works with all tone telephones, uses no batteries, and incurs no additional phone charges.
