Navigon Partners, Unveils GPS Products

By Staff -- TWICE, 1/8/2007

Navigon is introducing two products here in booth 6011 in the North Hall.

Navigon is partnering with Fujitsu, supplier of computer products, to unveil the Pocket LOOX N100, a portable navigation device, to the U.S. market. The product, designed to be able to hang off a keychain, measures 0.6 inches and weighs 3.5 ounces and features a 2.8-inch color screen and is powered by a 5-hour rechargeable lithium-ion battery.

It has a built-in MP3 player and comes with computer games. Navigon said it guarantees one-click operation thanks to its customized MobileNavigator Premium software that features touch-screen capabilities and a multilingual user interface. The display is said to provide lane information, point-of-interest searches with branded icons along the route, speed limit information and warnings and GPS auto-follow in tunnels.

The Pocket LOOX will be packaged with a Mini SD card, a car holder, car charger, AC adapter, USB cable, headphones, three faceplates and a quick-reference guide. The product is set to be available in spring 2007 at a suggested retail of $499.

Navigon is also showing its P'9611, a portable navigation device designed for a luxury-conscious consumer through a partnership with the Porche Design Group.

Navigon said the product offers free traffic information for the lifetime of the product, which is said to provide consumers with the ability to avoid traffic jams or other obstacles out-of-the-box without having to unlock or subscribe. It features built-in Traffic Message Channel functionality, which the company says automatically supplies the driver with alternate routes, coupled with the company's lane assistant.

The P'9611 also features Navigon's new MobileNavigator Premium software. Other features include a high-contrast 480 by 272 touch screen, 520 MHz Intel CPU, dual processor platform, graphics accelerator chip, 64MB of both RAM and ROM, high-sensitivity GPS, hands-free Bluetooth communications kits, high quality built-in speakers and a windshield cradle.

Navigon said the P'9611 will be available this summer with an $899 suggested retail.
