D-Box Offers Motion Simulated Home Theater Seating

By Staff -- TWICE, 5/9/2005

With prices starting at about $5,000, D-Box Technology is bringing its first line of mainstream motion stimulator seating to the home theater market.

Called Quest, the seating integrates a two-axis motion stimulator system into a reclining theater chair or loveseat that makes the viewer a participant by providing the “ultimate home theater experience” — dramatic, realistic motion that is perfectly synchronized with the onscreen action and sound.

Quest chairs and loveseats integrate a pair of direct-drive actuators that move and lift the seating. Seating can be controlled with a controller or through an interface and PC-based software.

Quest Integrated Motion Simulated Seating begins at $5,299 suggested retail for a single chair with manual recline covered in NuSuede, and goes up to $10,299 for a loveseat with a motorized recline covered in premium leather.

Non-activated seating begins at $1,699 and rises to $6,199. With the add-on of a motion simulator system, suggested retail hits $4,499. Suggested retail for the interface and Windows software is $799.
