Brother Intros Multifunction Devices

By Doug Olenick -- TWICE, 8/7/2006

Brother International was scheduled to start shipping the first of three new models in its inkjet-based Multi Function Center line last month, with the two remaining SKUs hitting stores in September.

All three will feature printing, copying, scanning and faxing with 6,000 by 1,200 print resolution, and 600 by 2,400 optical resolution.

The MCC-240c will be the first out, carrying a $99 suggested retail price, 20 ppm color printing and 25ppm monochrome. Copying speeds are rated at 16 ppm color and 18 ppm monochrome.

Shipping in September is the MFC-440c. Priced at $149, it adds a 2-inch flip-up LCD and bypass tray that holds up to 20 pages of 4-inch by 6-inch photo paper; it also contains an Ethernet port.

The MFC-655cw completes the line. It has slightly faster 27 ppm monochrome and 22 ppm color print speeds, Wi-Fi, speaker phone, answering machine and a telephone handset. It will carry a $199 suggested retail price when it ships.
