Viewsonic Offers Flat Panel TVs

Viewsonic will showcase at CEDIA Expo a 32W-inch LCD TV, a 55W-inch HD plasma monitor and a high-performance ATSC tuner decoder box.

Viewsonic's Next Vision N3200w (ships in October at a $2,999 suggested retail) is the company's largest HD-grade LCD TV monitor to date. The 32W-inch 16:9 screen offers 1280 by 768 resolution, a 600:1 contrast ratio and 170-degree viewing angle.

An 18 millisecond response time, is said to be ideal for video game play, with and for smooth motion video images. A front-panel digital media reader allows users to view digital photos from multiple memory card formats.

Also featured is 3:2 reverse pull-down support, 3D comb filter and advanced motion adaptive video de-interlacing technology.

Viewsonic's VPW5500 (shipping now at a $9,999 suggested retail) high-definition plasma monitor features a 55W-inch 16:9 screen size with 1366 by 786 resolution. The viewing angle is 160 degrees.

Viewsonic's DTV tuner/decoder — model HD12 (ships in October at a $399 suggested retail) — will receive over-the-air digital programming and scale signals for display on virtually any HDTV-ready for display on virtually any HDTV-ready display featuring DVI with HDCP inputs, HD component inputs, VGA (RGB up to 1,024 by 768) input or composite of S-video inputs.

The HD12 receives digital standard and high-definition (ATSC) signals as well as analog NTSC signals in the standard 480i, 480p, 720p and 1,080i broadcast formats. Images are presented in either 16:9 widescreen or traditional 4:3 aspect ratios.

Also offered are Dolby AC-3 digital and MPEG audio decoding, and an electronic programming guide for both NTSC and ATSC channels.
