Dish, NFL Settle Lawsuit

Englewood, Colo. — Dish Network and the NFL Network said Friday they have reached a settlement in a lawsuit through which Dish Network will continue to carry the NFL Network channel in Dish’s Classic Silver 200 programming package.
As a result of the multi-year agreement, all litigation was dropped. Full terms of the settlement were not disclosed.
“We are very pleased that our NFL Network will continue to be distributed in millions of homes on Dish Network," stated NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell. “We look forward to having our Network's upcoming coverage of the April 25-26 NFL Draft showcased on Dish Network.”
Dish Network chairman, president and CEO Charlie Ergen said, "The NFL Network is a great complement to our programming lineup and we are pleased to offer the channel to our subscribers."
In January 2008, the satellite-TV service moved the NFL Network from its America’s Top 100 tier to the America’s Top 200 tier, which had fewer subscribers, after the satellite company said the NFL violated a contract by simulcasting the Patriots-Giants game on CBS and NBC in December 2007.
The league filed a lawsuit against Dish saying that the contract was still valid.
