InFocus Demos DarkChip 3 DLP Projector

By Greg Tarr -- TWICE, 1/8/2007

InFocus (Central Hall 9021) will show here its Play Big IN78EX DLP home theater projector that uses Texas Instruments' DarkChip 3 digital micromirror device (DMD).

The Play Big IN78EX, which is available now at a $4,499 suggested retail, is based on InFocus's Play Big IN76, and will display 1,280-by-720p native resolution high-definition images. Video processing is handled using Pixelworks DNX technology.

A patented zoom focus wheel allows the lens to be inset, protecting it from fingerprints and damage.

Image brightness is said to be 1,000 ANSI Lumens, and performance is calibrated to D65 color mastering standards, which is said to create "cinema-quality color."

Included standard Play Big features are an integrated cable cover to hide unwanted wires when ceiling mounted and an integrated swivel pedestal that simplifies tabletop setup and is easily removed for ceiling mount applications.
