Vendio Bows CE Shopping Toolbar

By Staff -- TWICE, 8/22/2005

Vendio, a provider of sales management and merchandising services for e-tailers, has introduced a comparison shopping toolbar for CE products.

The Dealio Toolbar, available in an open beta version at www.dealio.com, allows consumers to shop for and compare a wide range of consumer electronics products from online merchants including Sony, Wal-Mart, Target, Amazon.com, Circuit City, Dell, Best Buy, Overstock.com, Huppin's/OneCall and CompUSA. Additional e-tailers and product categories will be added going forward.

Vendio (formerly AuctionWatch) accepts product listings from online merchants at no charge, resulting in an “entirely democratic” process in which search results are based on lowest total price (including tax and shipping) rather than by paid placements.

The toolbar itself is free to consumers and is “quick and easy to install and use,” Vendio said. Once shoppers locate a specific item online, the toolbar automatically alerts them to the lowest available prices from participating e-tailers for that product. Clicking on the “alert” in the navigation bar opens a sidebar within the browser window, which provides the consumer with a list of alternative sites where they can purchase the same product and the related prices, complete with tax and shipping to their ZIP code.

Vendio said the toolbar requires no additional space on the screen during normal browsing, and does not record consumers' individual Web movements, adversely affect system or Internet connection performance, or generate pop-ups or any other advertising on a consumer's computer.

Interested dealers can visit the Dealio site for more information and to register as a merchant partner at no cost.
