Old Lyme, Conn. — Sennheiser is entering the world of wireless communications with its DW800, a two-transceiver wireless headset with docking station that offers home office or small office the freedom of cordless mobility.
The wireless system allows users to roam over 150 yards from the docking station for external calls or in-house communications. The two mobile transceivers allow “hot-swapping” one unit if the battery starts to lose power, with the other unit charging in the docking station. The system holds the connection until a user plugs into the second, fully charged mobile transceiver.
Since the batteries charge faster than they lose power, the ability to swap out the run-down transceiver for the fully powered one ensures unlimited, continuous use of the system. With the DW800, users will never lose a call due to power loss, said Sennheiser.
The DW800 wireless system is said to easily combine with any of 10 headsets from Sennheiser. These include the SH330, where suggested retail with the DW800 is $598, and the CC520, where suggested retail with the DW800 is $638.
Among the features of the DW800 is infinite battery life, dynamic volume control, conference call feature, intercom function, Sound Clarity System, switch for external audio interface on docking station, push-to-talk function and a desktop docking station that can be converted to wall mount.
