CES 2009: BeyerDynamic Bows Headphones

LAS VEGAS — BeyerDynamic returns to International CES after 24 years with new collections of headphones — the MMX and Headzone models — which can be seen at booth 26811 in the South Hall.
The multimedia MMX 300 is a headset for both serious gamers and audiophiles. Its design is based on an aviation pilot headset with a closed design which absorbs external sounds by approximately 18 dB so sound reproduction is possible even in loud environments. The spring steel headband has soft, interchangeable head and ear cushions for a secure fit. Suggested retail is $399.
The MMX 2, for use with Windows or and Mac computers, requires no installations and no software updates.
A highlight is its combination of an analog headset and separate USB converter. The small converter contains the digital signal processing. It precisely converts the sound from the microphone to an audio file which the computer can then further process. At the same time, it produces an analog sound signal from the digital sound output via USB which the headphones play back. Suggested retail is $129.
Also new are three headphones for the surround market — the Headzone Home, Headzone Home HT (with Head Tracking) and Headzone Game.
The foremost feature of the Headzone Home system is its patented Headtracking function that reacts to the listener's head movements and automatically adapts the space impression on a real-time basis.
The Headzone Game system includes the new MMX 300 multimedia headset. Pricing will be available at the show.
