SmartDisk Intros Compact Hard Drives

Staff -- TWICE, 1/8/2002

SmartDisk is introducing FireLite and FireFly hard drives during International CES this week.

The FireLite is a compact, portable FireWire hard drive for Macs and PCs. It stores up to 40 GB and can be daisy-chained, the company said. With its small size and one-step installation, the FireLite is ideal for adding data storage and processing power for the most demanding portable applications.

FireLite doesn't require an external power supply or software and can be used for both desktop and portable uses, SmartDisk said.

The FireFly stores five hours of video, over 1,000 MP3 songs or over 2000 high-quality digital photos. Smaller than a pack of playing cards, the FireFly stores up to 5 GB and is designed for transferring large files between computers, the firm said. This upgraded version of the FireFly now features USB connectivity.

Suggested retail pricing and availability can be obtained from SmartDisk during CES.
