By Peter Suciu -- TWICE, January 9, 2009
LAS VEGAS — NXT is showing its line of SoundBags from iHome for the North American market. iHome, a division of SDI Technologies, has introduced the iHM12 compact MP3 SoundBags, the slimmest NXT-based carrying cases for MP3 players.
Powered by two AAA batteries, the iHM12 features an NXT speaker that provides high-quality audio playback for ultra-portable digital devices, such as an iPod Nano.
NXT is also displaying the latest range of NXT-equipped products from Japanese electronics brand Maxell, including two new speakers designed for the Latin American market. These include the Maxell travel speakers, which are powered by three AAA batteries. This compact speaker system features a folding stand to protect the NXT panel during transport, and it is compatible with all portable devices that connect via a 3.5mm mini-plug. It offers 2x2-watt RMS output with a frequency response of 150Hz to 20kHz. The MBlast 2.1 PC speaker system also incorporates two slim-line NXT satellite speakers complete with transparent surrounds. It features system output of 10 watts RMS and is available in black and silver. Both of these systems are available in Mexico and countries throughout South and Central America.
NXT further announced that it will be expanding on its Blok iPod station, which was introduced to the European market in the middle of 2008. The Kube will feature the same compact design, but will incorporate the addition to Internet radio and will feature wireless speakers. It will be compatible with current iPod models and will be available later in the first quarter of 2009 for the European market. Pricing was not available at press time.
