EchoStar Offers Sling App For iPhone, iPod Touch

Foster City, Calif. — EchoStar’s Sling Media said Wednesday that it is now offering a Wi-Fi-only version of its SlingPlayer Mobile application for the iPhone and iPod Touch at the iPhone App Store.
With the $30 app, iPhone and iPod Touch users will have access to TV and entertainment content from their home-entertainment systems in the palm of their hand.
“The SlingPlayer Mobile application gives users access to the full spectrum of viewing, including local channels, local sports teams, video-on-demand and pay-per-view, right from their iPhone or iPod Touch, as well as the ability to watch and control their home digital video recorder,” said John Gilmore, SlingMedia senior VP/general manager.
When in a Wi-Fi-enabled area (hot spot) connected to a Slingbox Solo, Pro, or Pro-HD, the SlingPlayer Mobile software will enable users of the Apple handheld devices to watch and control the television set, DVR or cable or satellite box on the go.
Viewers can change channels and set a DVR to playback or record a show.
The application is available for download now at the iPhone App Store.
