Arlington, Va. — Federal Communications Chairman Kevin Martin has appointed the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) to the 26-member Consumer Advisory Committee.
The committee is tasked with consumer education surrounding the digital TV transition. Julie Kearney, CEA’s regulatory affairs senior director, will be the CEA’s representative on the committee and it will hold its first meeting on Aug. 10.
“We are pleased to again be a part of this vital group,” said CEA president/CEO Gary Shapiro. “Consumer education remains paramount to ensure the digital revolution reaches every American television household. We look forward to working with the FCC and members of the Consumer Advisory Committee to ensure this happens successfully.”
