Princeton To Ship 19" LCD

IRVINE, CALIF.— Princeton Graphics in March will ship a value-priced 19-inch LCD monitor. The SENergy 914 will carry a $699 suggested retail when it ships in March, the company reported. The 914 features a slim bezel and the company's Premium MVA Technology that delivers a 170-degree viewing angle. The 914 fleshes out Princeton's SENergy line, which already contains 15-inch, 17-inch, and 20.4-inch models.

Sony Bows LCD Monitors

SAN DIEGO— Sony's new 17-inch SDM-HS73P and 20-inch SDM-S204 feature the company's proprietary X-BRITE panel technology that increases the viewing angles and enhances brightness. The SDM-HS73P will ship in February with a $609 street price. The SDM-S204, which is geared more toward the high-end engineering and desktop publishing markets, will ship at the same time, with an $1,199 street price.

New Notebooks From Toshiba

IRVINE, CALIF.— Toshiba launched its new Satellite A45 notebook computer series, which includes models A45-S120, A45-S150 and the A45-S250. The A45-S120 notebook, $1,049 suggested retail, is powered by a 2.6GHz Intel Celeron processor, a 40GB hard drive, 256MB of RAM, 15-inch display and a CD-RW/DVD-ROM drive. The A45-S150 adds the 2.4GHz mobile Pentium 4 chip, a 60GB hard drive, 512MB of RAM, 802.11g wireless networking and it will carry a $1,399 suggested retail. The A45-S250, $1,649 suggested retail, has a 2.8GHz Pentium 4 processor and a DVD Plus/Dash rewritable drive.

Malata To Launch DIVA

NEW YORK— Malata, a China-based maker of CE equipment, launched two PVR-like devices at CES. The DIVA, slated for shipment in March, is a stand-alone CE product that can record TV programming to either CD-R or DVD-R media. Two versions of the DIVA will be available, a $299 model that only records to CD-R media and a $449 version that can record to either format. The DIVA use Windows Media Player software and the video is not MPEG encoded.
