XM Signs Deals

By Amy Gilroy -- TWICE, 6/20/2005

XM Satellite Radio announced two agreements and reported the expansion of its XM NavTraffic coverage to two new markets.

XM said it has entered an exclusive partnership with Audible, based in Wayne, N.J., to produce in 2006, handheld portable radio devices that play both XM's service and Audible's spoken-word content.

The satellite radio provider has also extended its XM NavTraffic coverage to two additional markets — Orlando and Tampa, Fla.,— for a total coverage of 22 major metro areas, it said.

And XM also confirmed it awarded Space Systems/Loral a contract for the design and construction of its XM-5 satellite, over former supplier Boeing.
