Sanus Debuts Second-Generation Universal Wall Mount

Las Vegas — Sanus is introducing its second-generation flat-panel plasma and LCD mounts for televisions sized from 27 inches to 84 inches, fitting what the company calls “the greatest range of televisions in the industry” and supporting up to 280 pounds.
The mount, which represents the next-generation of universal wall mounts, is expandable and can handle a wide variety of flat-panel TVs. It is being shown here this week at International CES.
Called model VMPL3, it features the company's Virtual Axis fingertip tilting system that provides smooth tilt motion with the touch of a fingertip, said Sanus. The unit stays in position at any angle, allowing large, flat-panel TVs to tilt up +6 degrees to down -12 degrees.
Model VMPL3, which is said to fit virtually all medium- , large- and extra-large-size flat-panel TVs, thus greatly simplifies the mount selection process by consumers, said Sanus. This also benefits retailers by reducing the number of wall mount SKUs needed in stock.
The VMPL3 features heavy gauge steel construction, comes in two durable finishes of silver and black, and has a suggested $249.99 retail.
The unit offers telescoping horizontal and vertical arms, allowing the same mount to fit the largest flat-panel TVs, and letting the mount expand to be anchored to a width of three wall studs. Consumers mount two universal mounting brackets to the television and hang the set on the wall mounting plate. A safety bolt locks the universal mounting bracket securely in place.
