Mogo Shows Wireless Cell Signal Booster

by John Laposky -- TWICE, 1/28/2007

Mogo Wireless came to International CES with a mobile signal-boosting amplifier for cellular phones.

The amplifier increases signal strength tenfold, reducing the number of dropped cellular calls, improving call quality, extending the range for voice and data and allowing the operation of multiple phones simultaneously, according to the company.

Mogo's Personal Mobile Cell Towers come in two versions: one that works with a notebook computer and one with a vehicle's 12-volt power supply.

The amplifiers are compatible with most 800 MHz and 1,900 MHz cellular networks including AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, Alltel and Verizon Wireless. They are also compatible with Bluetooth devices.

The device is installed by plugging the adapter into a 12-volt power supply or a USB port of a notebook computer. The tower instantly recognizes the cellphone and its protocol, and begins boosting signal strength without any further programming or adjustments, the company said.

The Tower is available now with a $149 suggested retail.
