— Cache, a new brand of OEM integration product for the car, is launching at International CES.
The brand shares the same parent as Diamond Audio, and it is entering the market with a line of products "less complicated" than OEM integration products from top tier suppliers, it said.
Cache products essentially take the outputs from a factory radio and convert them to RCA outputs that can be used with an aftermarket amplifier. "In the past you could use a simple line-out connector for $15 to $20, but as the factory radios have become more complex, some car radios actually have crossovers, so now what's necessary is a device that takes all those channels and sums them to one full range output so you can use whatever brand of amplifier you want," said Brian Sherman, marketing manager.
Cache also noted that products offered by JL Audio or Rockford may be sold only through their select dealer networks. "We want to offer this to more dealers," Sherman said.
The line of six-line output converters range from a two-channel model at a suggested retail of $49.95 to an eight-channel model at $249. Shipping is expected in January.
