Circuit City Trimming Firedog Ranks

By Alan Wolf -- TWICE, 5/29/2008

Richmond, Va. — CircuitCityplans to lay off 123 employees within its Firedog services division in July.

According to a report in the Richmond Times Dispatch, the downsizing is limited to its cable installation operation, which is being shut after failing to meet goals and expectations. Firedog had served as a subcontractor for cable operators Charter Communications and Comast.

The layoffs represent about 4 percent of Firedog’s 3,000-person workforce, and follow the dismissal of 67 employees in March who had been assigned to the ailing home builders’ channel.
