Epson Adds New R-Series Inkjets

By TWICE Staff -- TWICE, 8/20/2007

Long Beach, Calif. — Epson announced three new R-series inkjet photo printers and all-in-ones today.

All the new models will ship next month and use the company’s Claria High Definition ink set and DX5 print head technology, which can produce five sizes of ink droplets.

The printers will feature six individual ink cartridges, the ability to automatically correct images (including sharpening and red-eye removal) and offer border-free photo printing up to letter-sized prints.

The models will also feature the ability to print directly to inkjet printable optical media.

The entry R280, for a suggested $99.99, features 4-inch by 6-inch photo printing in roughly 11 seconds (in draft mode using Epson paper) and text print speeds up to 38 pages per minute (ppm).

The RX595 is an all-in-one with similar print speeds as the R280 plus the ability to copy at 37 ppm. It features a 2.5-inch LCD screen, memory card slots and works with an optional Bluetooth adapter.
