LCD TVs Pass CRTs

AUSTIN, TEXAS — LCD TVs surpassed CRT TVs in worldwide unit share for the first time in the fourth quarter of 2007, rising 56 percent year-over-year to reach 28.5 million units, or 47 percent of the world TV market, according to DisplaySearch.
Global TV shipments grew 21 percent quarter-over-quarter and 5 percent year-over-year in the fourth quarter of 2007, to reach 60.8 million units. That brought total shipments to almost 200 million units for the year and sent total TV revenues over the $100 billion mark for the first time.
