Verizon Wireless Agrees To Offer Vocel Content

SAN DIEGO — Cellular applications developer Vocel said Verizon Wireless will offer its Prima Games content to Verizon's Mobile Web 2.0SM customers this month.
Verizon customers can subscribe to Prima Games and have console game codes and cheats pushed to their Web 2.0-enabled handsets.
Mobile Web 2.0 is available for a $5 monthly access, plus airtime. Prima Cheats and Codes is a premium application and is available for an additional $1.99 per month.
Vocel, which offers carriers content from Princeton Review and Random House, will expand its content licensing partnership to include content from the Pill Book, Harlequin novels and Oxford University Press.
The company repurposes content for cellphones using a template-based push technology, said business development VP Bill Hamill. It can work on a variety of cellular platforms, not just Web 2.0, Hamill added.
The company is currently developing a technology called INCA, or Interactive Carrier Alerts, to streamline the purchase of wallpapers, ringtones, surveys or hardware through the handset.
Hamill said handsets with INCA would allow carriers, on an opt-in basis, to alert users to special deals, take surveys or order new equipment.
