Samsung To Showcase Broad DTV Lineup At CEDIA

INDIANAPOLIS — Samsung will use CEDIA to showcase its expanded lineup of advanced television displays, a broad assort of home theater in a box systems (HTiBs) and new DVD recording products.
In LCD TV, Samsung will spotlight nine models, highlighted by the now shipping LN-R469D ($5,999 suggested retail) 46W-inch integrated HDTV set with digital CableCARD slot. The panel features 1,366 by 768 resolution and an 8ms response time. It will be joined by two 40W-inch HD models in LN-R409D ($4,199), and the LN-R408D ($4,499), which both feature CableCARD slots and ATSC tuning.
New LCD-TV models featuring ATSC tuning without CableCARD slots include the 32W-inch LN-R329D ($2,399) and the 26W-inch LN-R269D ($1,899).
In HD LCD-TV monitors, the company will show the 32W-inch LN-R3228W ($2,199), the 26W-inch LN-R268W ($1,499) and the 23W-inch LN-R238W ($1,099). All LCD TV models are currently shipping to dealers.
In high-definition plasma TVs, Samsung will present models using fifth-generation panels and incorporating ATSC tuning and digital CableCARD slots. Models include the 63W-inch HP-R6372 ($16,999), the 50W-inch HP-R5072 ($4,699) and HP-R5052 ($4,499) and the 42W-inch HP-R4252 ($3,499). All are shipping now.
Samsung will also show two 30W-inch models in its new line of SlimFit slim-profile, widescreen direct-view CRT televisions. Models include the TX-R3079WH ($1,099) and the TX-R3080WH ($1,099), with bottom-mounted speakers. Both feature built-in ATSC tuning, and offer cabinet depths one-third that of standard CRT models. Both are currently available to dealers.
In DLP rear-projection, Samsung will present new 1,080p fully integrated, digital-cable-ready models including the 67W-inch HL-R6768W ($5,699) and the 56W-inch HL-R5688W ($5,199) and HL-R5668W ($4,199). All are currently shipping.
Digital-cable-ready DLP models with HD 720p resolution will include the 50W-inch HL-R5067W ($2,999).
Also slated to appear are new DVD players and recorders, including four portable models — the 7-inch DVD-L70 ($199.99), the 10-inch DVD-L300 ($599.99) and the 12-inch DVD-L1200 ($999.99).
DVD players with 1,080i/720p HD up-conversion capability will include the DVD-V9500 ($199.99) DVD/VCR combo player, the DVD-HD950 ($199.99) stand-alone player with DVD-Audio and SACD support, and the DVD-VR325 ($399.99) DVD recorder/VCR combo.
Other DVD recorders include the DVD-R120 ($179.99) ultra-slim, single-deck model; the DVD-VR320 ($299.99) DVD recorder/VCR combo; and the DVD-TR520 ($449.99) dual-deck DVD recorder.
Samsung will also present an expanded assortment of HTiB systems, including the HT-P1200 ($999.99) high-style single DVD HTiB, the HT-WP38 ($349.99) wireless rear-channel system with five-disc DVD changer, and the HT-HDP40 ($399.99) integrated DVD/receiver system with HDMI i/o connections and five-disc DVD changer.
Other HTiB models include the HT-P50 ($449), a 6x160-watt system with five-disc DVD changer and USB host plug-and-play connection for portable digital music players, and the HT-AS601B ($299.99) 6.1-channel receive-only package with speakers.
At the higher end, Samsung will ship this month the AV-R3000 ($4,999.99) digital A/V receiver with four HDMI and two DVI inputs, one HDMI output, full HDMI switching, IEEE-1394 input for DVD-Audio and SACD, and 7x250-watt power and 0.05 percent THD.
The company will also show a new ATSC high-definition terrestrial tuner, model SIR-T451 ($349 suggested retail). The unit will receive all 18 ATSC table-three formats, in addition to decoding Dolby Digital surround sound. It offers user selectable format output of 1,080i, 720p, 480i and 480p.
Outputs include component video, DVI-HDCP, S-video, as well as coaxial and optical Dolby Digital, and standard right/left RCA audio jacks. It will also receive in-the-clear QAM digital cable signals.
