‘Rhapsody’ Added To GoVideo DVD Player

By Greg Tarr -- TWICE, 5/11/2004

Scottsdale, Ariz. — GoVideo said it is now shipping a networked DVD player that is capable of streaming the Rhapsody music service from RealNetworks to any TV or stereo in the home.

Models D2730, available now, and D2740, which is scheduled for delivery this summer, will enable users to view their personal Rhapsody music libraries on TV screens and enjoy their favorite music and Internet radio stations on any stereo or home theater system.

By using the DVD player to link to a PC connected with Rhapsody, users will have access to more than 650,000 songs. They can browse personal Rhapsody libraries by artist, album and song title.

GoVideo has optimized its StreamLink Technology for UPnP-certified music services like Rhapsody and others.

GoVideo said owners of their D2730 networked DVD player can download new Version 3 software at www.govideo.com to gain Rhapsody capability. Owners of GoVideo networked DVD players will get a 30-day free trail to Rhapsody. The Rhapsody music service is available from RealNetworks for $9.95 per month.

"When we introduced the world's first networked DVD player last year, we focused on freeing the music, movies and pictures that are trapped on the PC. Now our UPnP-enabled networked DVD player breaks new barriers, enabling legal, unlimited access to more than six hundred thousand songs," said Jerry Barbera, GoVideo's sales and channel marketing VP. "With our continued commitment to provide the GoVideo experience — innovation, simplicity, value and support — in every one of our products, we believe the combination of our networked DVD player and Rhapsody will change the way people listen to their favorite music in the home."
