TDK Enters Portable Audio With Mojo

Staff -- TWICE, 2/12/2001

GARDEN CITY, N.Y. -TDK entered the portable audio market with a headphone MP3-CD player due in April at an everyday $179. Dubbed Mojo, the device is said to be the first MP3-CD portable that lets users select songs by artist, song title, album name or music genre.

On the portable itself, users are also able to create playlists that the device stores in memory for up to five discs. The navigation capabilities were previously available only in solid-state and hard-drive portables, TDK said. TDK's Navitrack navigation technology quickly reads and sorts music ID information contained in each MP3 file created with included MusicMatch Jukebox 6.0 PC software, which downloads the data as ID3 information tags from the GraceNote (formerly CDDB) online music database.
