Weedfald Named IABC's 'Communicator Of The Year'

By Staff -- TWICE, 10/10/2005

Samsung's U.S. consumer electronics sales and marketing senior VP Peter Weedfald was recently awarded the 2005 Communicator of the Year Award by the New York Chapter of the International Association of Business Communicators (NY/IABC).

The honor, which was designed to recognize outstanding leadership in communications, is given to individual communicators who have “distinguished themselves by setting an example for their peers,” the NY/IABC said in prepared statement.

“At Samsung, [Weedfald] has taken the lead in developing innovative marketing and communication programs that break through the clutter and connect with consumers and customers overwhelmed by the explosion of media, messages and advertising,” said Judy Jones, NY/IABC president said. “Peter is a leader in advancing corporate social responsibility and pioneered the company's effort in launching new charitable programs in support of children, including Samsung's Four Seasons of Hope program, which has raised more than $5 million for a variety of children's charities, and Samsung's Hope for Education, a nationwide program which benefits children's education.”

The NY/IABC Communicator of the Year Award is the chapter's highest award bestowed on an individual, business or organization for outstanding communications practices and leadership. It recognizes integrity and excellence in everyday communications or in response to specific crises or challenges.

The award is open to business, government and community leaders and professional communicators.
