Circuit City Assigns Mathews New Title

by Alan Wolf -- TWICE, 2/21/2007

Richmond, Va. — David Mathews, Circuit City’s new operational point person, has been given the title of merchandising, services and marketing executive VP.

Mathews, previously president of the chain’s multichannel direct-sales operations, was tapped for a central role in the company’s newly streamlined reporting structure. Circuit City announced the reorganization earlier this month.

“Dave has demonstrated strong leadership in his capacity as president of Circuit City Direct, driving explosive growth in that segment, while improving our position as a multichannel retailer,” CEO Phil Schoonover said in a statement. “We believe that by asking Dave to lead our merchandising, services and marketing efforts, we have taken the next step in building our multichannel capabilities by streamlining our organization to make it more responsive to our customers’ needs.”

Mathews said the new structure will allow the company to “integrate our purchasing, pricing, marketing and services, thereby creating a seamless multichannel customer experience while improving execution.”
