Phoenix Gold is launching a new Xenon line, shifting its strategy away from the ultra high-end market.

The line is the first to be designed by former PPI engineers Dr. Stephen Leigh, Keith Harbaugh and Dan Borzone since they were hired by Phoenix Gold, said the company.

Phoenix Gold discontinued its Titanium series and most of the Tantrum line, which were at very high price points, upwards of $1,500. Instead, it is focusing on the new Xenon mid-priced and Octane-R lower-priced series, said 12-volt product manager Morgan West.

New Xenon Convertible speakers are components that may also double as coaxial speakers. The removable tweeter can either be flush-mounted or installed as a surface mount. Available in 5.25-inch and 6.5-inch cone sizes, each has a cast aluminum basket, expanded metal grill and oversized voice coils. Both offer 150-watt RMS power handling and both carry a suggested list price of $399.99.

In March the company also shipped new Xenon amplifiers, including three mono Class D models and four multi-channel units, all with custom tooled cases. Class D models are rated at 400 watts, 600 watts and 1,200 watts RMS at respective list prices of $399.99, $599.99 and $899.99.
