CEA Confirms FCC’s Martin To Appear During CES 2007

By Steve Smith -- TWICE, 12/6/2006

Arlington, Va. — The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) reported that Kevin Martin, chairman of the Federal Communications Commission , will be featured at the Industry Insider Series at the 2007 International CES.

As previously reported by TWICE during the CES Press Preview in New York last month, Martin will join Gary Shapiro, president/CEO of CEA, for a one-on-one discussion of key issues including the digital television transition and broadband deployment.

Martin’s session is slated for noon-1 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 10, at the Las Vegas Convention Center, North Hall N257. This will be Martin's second Industry Insider appearance at CES.

“Chairman Martin has been instrumental in bringing the benefits of consumer technology into the hands of Americans through his support of industry competition and the advancement of new technology,” said Shapiro. “We are thrilled to have the chairman return to the International CES as an Industry Insider and look forward to hearing his candid views on the DTV transition and other key issues facing our industry.”

Produced by CEA, the 2007 International will be returning to Las Vegas, Jan. 8-11, and celebrating its 40th anniversary.
