Cellular Enters Adolescent Age

London — American youth are having cellular phones at a younger age than in any other country in the world, according to market research company Wireless World Forum.
The research company found that:
• 4.6 million U.S. consumers under age 25 got their first phone in 2004. This growth trend will continue until 2007.
• the number of mobile youth in the U.S. is fast approaching 50 million.
• more than half (51 percent) of all 5-24 year olds owned a mobile phone in 2004. Their numbers will increase to 64 percent in 2007.
• mobile youth constitute 30% of the mobile user base.
