CEDIA Expo 2008: NuVision Adds 120Hz LCD TVs To Its FX5 Line

By Greg Tarr -- TWICE, 9/4/2008

NuVision U.S. (booth 950) will unveil at CEDIA Expo three Lucidium series Deep Black 1080p LCD TV models.

Models in the FX5 120Hz assortment will include the 42-inch, 47-inch and 52-inch screen sizes, which are slated to ship to dealers in the fourth quarter, the company said. Pricing will be announced.

The new models include the following models: NVU42FX5, NVU47FX5 and NVU52FX5.

"FX5 technology is NuVision's 120Hz addition to the Lucidium lineup," stated Scott Deley, NuVision CEO. " 'Film Times Five' takes the native film rate of 24 fps times five with our exclusive Frame Forward Motion technology to produce seamless motion at 120Hz, thereby eliminating artifacts associated with 3:2 pulldown. FX5 will also offer a film purist mode that repeats each frame five times thereby creating a true film-like experience."

The Scottsdale, Ariz.-based company said it is now shipping the full original Lucidium lineup. The new FX5 models will round out the company's product strategy of offering a complete whole-home 1080p video solution.

Each of the FX5 models includes 120Hz frame-rate technology for smooth fast-motion sequences; full 1080p resolution; NuColor x.v. 10-bit color path; NiDO IV Image processing; a Deep Black, Deep Color Spectrum (DCS) LCD panel; Digital Switching Deep Black (DSDB) system; three HDMI 1.3 inputs; and newly designed narrow frame cabinets with slim mounting depths.

All new Lucidium models include Frame Forward Motion Deep Black LCD panels with response times as low as 5ms, and Film Times Five frame-rate technology that displays each film frame five times on the display to create an effective 120 fps rate while eliminating the need for 3:2 pulldown processing.

The included Digital Switching Deep Black feature dynamically adjusts the LCD backlight according to the material being displayed to create a greater depth of field and effective contrast ratios up to 15,000:1.

The Deep Color Spectrum system widens the color gamut of the LCD panel to expand the LCD color space, and the NuColor x.v. system offers a wide x.v. color space, by providing end-to-end 10-bit signal path, incorporating DCS spectrum.

NuControl adds a bi-directional RS232 protocol, in addition to IR pass-thru to control other devices, and IR input to control the TV.

For installers NuVision makes available a NuWire MultiView NCMVIR46 HD amplified CAT-5 distribution and control module, which combines component over CAT-5 and with control for up to four high-definition source devices. It will enable IR to be passed-through from the front of a NuVision display to control any high-definition source up to 1,500 feet away, the company said.
